Coldingham

Coldingham Village is a historic conservation village in the east of Berwickshire on the south east coast of Scotland.

Coldingham has an award winning blue flag beach, beautiful scenery and is an ideal place to base your holiday in the Scottish Borders

St Abbs with its Nature Reserve and world renowned diving grounds is approx 1.5 miles away.

The village is 2.5 miles from the main A1 and under one hour from Edinburgh our capital city

The Scottish Borders region

Covering about eighteen hundred square miles, the Scottish Borders stretches from the rolling hills and moorland in the west, through gentler valleys to the high agricultural plains of the east, and on to the rocky Berwickshire coastline with its secluded coves and picturesque fishing villages.

In the bright spring months, fresh new growth fills the valleys and forests of the Scottish Borders. Enjoy time to spare with the lure of lighter longer summer days or relax in more mellow shades of autumn when mauves and purples tint the moors. Crunch through the crisp frosts of winter, when early morning mist floats over the lowlands, and the snow capped hills sparkle in the distance. Land and sea, hills and moorland all sit happily side by side. Rivers and paths wind their way through untouched natural beauty whilst the more gentle pace of life subtly relaxes and revives you. Seasonal changes await to delight, every day at every turn.

How to get there

By Road:

Turn off the main A1 onto the B6438 after about 2 miles turn left . The reception is at number 2 cottage the second cottage as you turn in. The site is situated 150m further along on the right.

*****A first Class CL. Andrew, the owner, is up once or twice a day to empty bins, clean the disposal point and chat to visitors. During our 8 night stay the grass was cut twice and the clippings collected, so not coming in on shoes and paws! The site is meticulously kept and very peaceful & quiet, the perfect place for getting away from it all. TV reception is very good, we got 100+ TV & radio stations and on a Virgin (EE) phone internet speeds were not any different to home. A great deal of time, effort & money has been put into this site and it shows. Highly recommended for all the above reasons and an area of outstanding natural beauty, we will definitely be returning.

Great CL - easy access - great views

We stayed one night here on our way back down from the Highlands.  We arrived late so were relieved how easily we could pull up to our pitch straight from the gate.  The views down the hill across Coldingham to the sea are lovely.  Water and sanitary facilities are easy to access too.  Quiet road, so good for the dogs.  Walks out to St Abbs head only a short drive away - great tea shop and art gallery there.  Highly recommended.

Definitely take this road!
We stayed here over the May bank holiday weekend for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The site is easy to find and level with fabulous views down to St Abbs, Coldingham and Eyemouth There are two Local pubs within easy walking distance, the more adventurous can walk to the coast and follow the coastal path as we did. The site drains well, it poured one evening for over an hour leaving the lower part of the site a huge lake. By the next day it had drained completely. A must is the restaurant on the harbour at St Abbs. Get there early for a lunchtime treat of Cullen skink. Homebaked cakes and a lovely atmosphere make a fabulous treat. Would definitely return.

 Quiet & Peaceful
We stayed here in early May for a week and thoroughly enjoyed it. The site is beautifully maintained and very quietly situated with just nothing to disturb the peace. Wonderful sea views. Very close to lots of interesting places - just down the road is St Abbs, a pretty small harbour, but on the way stop at the Scottish National Trust car park and take the walk up the cliff path for spectacular views. Bird life galore Dunbar and Berwick-Upon-Tweed (cheapest fuel in the area is at Asda Berwick) are worth a visit and the coastal road up to Dunbar is much quieter than the main A1. All in all a lovely site

Fabulous c.l

Just recently stayed here and throughly enjoyed it. Easy access, quiet and the views are great if your sat in your van, as crops were in the way if sat outside. It is kept immaculate. Would stay here more often if we lived closer.

Very good CL site with very helpful owner, would strongly recommend this site of high standard and good location.

Highly recommended CL in beautiful part of The Borders
From the nearby A1, the site was easy to locate and the CL entrance provided easy access for our twin axle caravan. Immediately upon our arrival, we received a very warm welcome from the CL Owner, Mr Dickson, who ensured that we were made familiar with all excellent amenities and the local area. The lawn standard CL is maintained to a very high standard, with grass collected so that it does not trample into caravans - clearly Mr Dickson takes very great pride in it for the benefit of his guests. Very good access to many local places of interest, our favourite being Eyemouth where in the harbour area we were able to watch the seals, enjoy some delicious fish and chips and a drink in one of the several quaint public houses. The site is extremely peaceful and the coastline is very picturesque, with Berwick upon Tweed only about 30 minutes away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Templehall and were sad when it was finally time to leave ! We would highly recommend this perfect CL to anyone visiting this area of the country and hope to visit it again ourselves at some time in the future.

Gorgeous location, Lovely site
Our favourite site so far. The owner is friendly and helpful. We arrived earlier than expected so he whipped out his ride on mower and tidied up the pitch immediately. Really nice grass pitch in a calm and relaxing location. Lots of room for van and awning. No showers or toilets but this did not detract from the sites appeal. The surrounding area matches in beauty. The local pub serves a good Sunday lunch and the butcher is helpful and sells excellent sirloin steak. This is a site we hope to return to soon.

Top CL
Very friendly welcome from Mr Dickson to what is a superb CL. He gave us a good run down of the site and the local area, pubs etc. The site is in grass and looked that good I was concerned about driving on it 😂 with the cuttings all collected up. Great Free Wi-fi on the site. No toilet facilities which gave us a chance to try out ours in the new van. It has everything else including waste disposal and a very clean chemical waste point. This CL would put many large sites to shame with the care and attention it is given. We will return 👍

Beautiful Site in a Beautiful Part of the World
You know those places you arrive at and you immediately know it's got everything right? This beautiful and beautifully kept site is one of those. The grass is practically manicured. The pitches have their own drains so make sure you take along a good length of waste pipe if that's your thing. Spacing is generous and the water and waste areas are kept pristine. The owner Andrew is laid back and friendly. You can pitch the unit and see the sea just over yonder. The WiFi is the real thing too -- plenty of speed AND bandwidth -- so you can watch TV on a device or movies etc. without any buffering; and it's … free! Superb foresight from Andrew on that one in today's ever changing world of customer service. Coldingham has two pubs which have a 'locals' feel, but are better for it. There is also a commercial caravan park just up from the village with a clubhouse and takeaway food outlet. They're not normally my cup of tea now that the kids have flown but in the interests of completeness, we called in on an early evening Saturday and the atmosphere was really fun in that Haven style clubhouse kinda way. Guess you have to be in the mood and on that evening we were! The rest of the stay was spent at Coldingham Bay on the beach. Nice little café and a bar there so blissfully happy place to be. If I sound a bit over enthused with Templehall and the surrounding area it's because I am. A truly superb site brilliantly and caringly run by a really interesting, candid and gregarious owner. You really have to go. I promise you won't regret it.
